evolution MOUSE-TRAK with Scroll

Scrolling is nothing new. In fact, it can get tiresome.

ITAC's new Scrolling evolution MOUSE-TRAK trackball is a productivity work horse. You will see a demonstration in the video below that makes clear why we think it merits triple crown contender status.

What matters is how fast you can get the thousand small things you must do each day done. If you use a scrollwheel to move through large spreadsheets or documents, or you use it to control functions such as zoom or rotation in CAD applications, the demo video below may be something you want to think about.

In the demo you will see the product as it moves from line 1 to line 304 of an Excel spreadsheet. The evolution MOUSE-TRAK makes this one small step in a day's work take less than 1/5th as long. Do that 50 or 60 times in a day and the benefits become obvious. Do it 500 to 1000 times in a day, as most users do, and the "obvious" is, well...an understatement. So, why reinvent the wheel...when there's already something better.

This example demonstrates the smooth flow and control that can be obtained using the scrolling evolution by simply "walking" the ball. This is something that is impossible to do with a mouse wheel due to it's size and shape. Please note that there is a small bit of jagged movement in the web video due to differences in frame rate. This would not exist on your own machine.

Impressive, huh?

The best way to understand how powerful ITAC's scroll function is, would be to try it first hand. Most computers have a scroll setting defaulted to three lines. This is because doing much with a standard scroll wheel would wear your scrolling finger out, introduce the risk of RSI, and not get you very far with each rotation. ITAC's scroll tracking algorithms and smooth fluid input motion would beat the mouse even more if the default scroll settings were changed to 1. With that change, you could scroll easily to any pixel or line and if you needed to move a long way, give the ball a spin and cover several hundred lines or pixels per second...whichever you need in an instant.

This scroll feature's performance is part of ITAC's overall commitment to allowing user's to really be able to live by our tag line..."Lose Your Mouse and Increase Your Productivity". We have made a business of thoughtfully combining ergonomics, durable mechanical design and innovative custom firmware inside our devices. Due to these innovations, you don't need any drivers or software from us to use the products. There is no need to go through any complicated setups or installation when using our products. Just plug into your USB port on Win2K, WinXP, Win Vista, Linux 4.0.1 or later, or Leopard OS and start getting all the benefits immediately!

In the tests above, it can be clearly seen that the evolution MOUSE-TRAK has superior performance in scrolling over that of a standard mouse. Not only does the evolution MOUSE-TRAK cover vastly more distance, but does it with less effort and fewer rotations, both of which aid in greatly reducing the risk of RSI.

Notice in the video that the mouse user's normal range of motion is an entire quarter turn of the mouse wheel. This causes repeated stress on the index finger (note the sharp bend in the finger during each rotation). Also notice that due to the physical size of the mouse wheel, it is almost impossible to rotate using any method other than a single finger, as multiple fingers are too large to fit on the wheel. Obviously using the palm of the hand would not work either, as it would likely cause accidental selections and clicks of both the left and right buttons.

In sharp contrast, the evolution MOUSE-TRACK allows for single finger, multi-finger and palm operation without any danger of accidental clicks or unintentional button selections. This feature allows for both precise control as well as rapid course movement and scrolling by simply making longer strokes or by "flicking" the ball. The natural inherent coasting of the ball aids in covering massive distance and multiple pages with minimal effort on the users part. This gives the user the ability to use the motion that is most comfortable and efficient for the task, as opposed to being forced to use a motion that is possibly dangerous, and tied to the device through physical design.

As can be seen in the videos, it takes considerably more rotations by the mouse to equal the performance of the evolution MOUSE-TRAK, which is delivered with only a fraction of the effort and motion required by the mouse.

The evolution MOUSE-TRAK is well suited for any task benefiting from multiple programmable buttons and powerful scrolling features, such as CAD, Digital Media Content Creation and many design and editing suites.

Additionaly, the ergonomic design helps reduce fatigue associated with working long periods using repetitive motions usually associated with these types of activites.

ITAC Systems evolution MOUSE-TRAK. Built for real people, real productivity

...built for the real world.

NOTE: All tests were performed under identical conditions. In both cases, windows defaults were used, 3 line scrolling per tick. (ITAC reccommends a setting of 1 line per tick for increased precision). Both tests were performed on the same machine. Neither device had drivers or other software installed that might degrade or enhance performance. Testing sequence demonstrated the time taken to reach a specific cell in a spreadsheet.
